The Heart of Neverland Review Spotlight

I am thrilled to be part of the book tour for The Heart of Neverland by Natalie J. Reddy! Read on for more details!

The Heart of Neverland is the first book in Natalie J. Reddy's The Neverwitch Chronicles and for lovers of the classic Peter Pan story, you're not going to want to miss out on this series!

The Heart of Neverland details Dani's story. She's moved around a lot, and she's finally settling in to her new home when her mother calls. She's hysterical about a necklace and not having worn it for a few days. Dani has no idea why her mother is having such hysterics, but she tries to play it down. She has enough on her plate at the moment dealing with a particularly irritable customer at her job. I mean, who wants to remake a drink FOUR times simply because a customer is being a total brat? This is one of those moments of where you're literally like "screw the whole "the customer is always right" bs, because this is ridiculous!" LOL!

Unfortunately, while one minute you're applauding Dani for standing her ground and demanding answers, danger strikes. Dani's mother's fears all too quickly realized and it costs Dani dearly. A horrific attack, her mother's death, and Dani with a nasty injury. The upside of it all? She learns a few truths about who she really is. But at what cost? Her life is forever changed, and now she has to find a new path forward. But those who are looking for her? They still are, and they intend to do what they must to get her.

The Heart of Neverland is going to sweep you away and take you into familiar elements while giving you a delightful new twist on an old classic. You're going to appreciate the detail the author gives you and the hints at secrets that are still tied up in the darkness. The characters, both on and off page, have done some curious things in their lives that have lead up to the moments on page. The off page scenes will drive you to dig deeper into the story to find out exactly why. Not all questions will be answered, but those that are...the answers are pretty interesting.

The romance angle really creates a push and pull angle. Dani is intrigued by the young man who has "stepped" into her life, but should she really trust him? Is there more than meets the eye? Of course! LOL! But things definitely start heating up and I'm here for it. As you read, you'll be torn between urging caution and saying "throw care to the wind!" LOL! Balance people! We gotta keep it somehow!

Hate cliffhangers? Tough! We're getting one! I loved and hated it at the same time. Yes, that's possible. I loved it because it left me eager for more. I hated it because I don't have the second book in my hands! LOL! I need to know what happens next!!!! OMG!! Yeah, this book is going to be sticking with me for awhile. LOL!

I'm choosing to rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It's a fun read with a lot of drama, and enough similarities to the original story to satisfy those who love Peter Pan while being fresh enough to give us something new. I highly recommend this book to fantasy lovers and those who love Peter Pan.

Thank you to the author, Natalie J. Reddy, and R&R Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this book.

The Heart of Neverland (The Neverwitch Chronicles #1)

Expected Publication Date: November 30th, 2022

Genre: Fantasy/ Romance/ Adventure/ Pirates/ Pan Retelling

One night.

That’s all it takes to turn my life upside down. It’s not like I had the most stable childhood to begin. Most of it was spent on the run from the villains in my mom’s head. It isn’t until after she’s murdered right in front of me that I realize maybe they weren’t in her head after all.

After her death I go to stay with an uncle I didn’t know existed to try to make sense of my life and find some answers about who I really am. As I search for the truth a guy named Peter shows up and makes it his mission to constantly get in my personal space. He’s gorgeous, flirty and completely infuriating. And possibly not actually human or from this world.

The things he tells me sound insane and I don’t think I can trust him. It doesn’t matter that each heated touch draws me deeper into his web. Things like magic, pirates and Peter Pan just aren’t real.
