Savage Wild Hearts Review Spotlight

Savage Wild Hearts is the first book in Sean Fletcher’s Savage Wild series. A twisted fantasy novel packed with drama, and intensity that will keep you page-turning, and an ending that will leave you eager for the next book in the series.

Savage Wild Hearts starts things off with an eye-catching cover with a thicket of vines and thorns complete with a crown in the middle. What does it all mean? Well, this simple image is a teaser for what is to come buried deep in this story. Get comfortable, because this is a story that is going to keep you engaged in the characters to the very end.

Author Sean Fletcher has created a beautiful and dangerous new world where the old world is no more. An upheaval has rocked the world. Beings called “wildlings” have come along with the Wilds. The Wilds are a dangerous place filled with dangerous creatures that will tear you apart. The Wilds is no place for humans, and as you read this book you’ll come to understand all to well how true this is. However, one particular human seems to have found a place there.

Val was actually found not too far from the Wilds. She was warned even as a child to stay out, but the Wilds call to her. Plus, they are a source of her only financial meager as it is. She has a reason to put her life on the line. Someone she cares about is sick...and dying. But everything is about to change...when she crosses paths with a particular wildling.

It’s a gradual build-up, but this book is quick on its feet. Before you know it Val is being whisked away deeper into a situation that she had no intent of involving herself in. But she doesn’t really have a choice. It’s hard to have a choice when a threat hangs over your head. But she’s also desperate, and desperate people will do just about anything. Her new “associate” Rune can attest to that.

Rune has an agenda, and he sees something in Val that will help him accomplish what it is that he seeks. Rune is out for revenge, but he wants more than just that. His past haunts him, and he sees power in her that will help him get a step closer to seeing his enemies dead at his feet.

Savage Wild Hearts is a gripping story that will keep you coming back for more. Val is an interesting character with a past wrapped in shadows and mist. There is something different about her and it doesn’t take long for this fact to come to the forefront. Author Sean Fletcher is quick to tease readers with this tidbit of information early in the story. Yet, it’s really when Val is heading home that he makes sure to put a spotlight on her “abnormality.” Questions are going to begin to pepper your mind, but you’re going to be okay with waiting for the answers to come.

Val is a young woman who is more than a little jaded. As you read this book and get to know more about her, you’ll better understand exactly why. Of course, when she’s called upon to trust a wildling, it’s easy to understand why she’s less than eager to do so. Granted, it’s hard to trust someone when they “strong-arm” you into an agreement with threats. But the threats are tinged with promises, too. Heart gems. If she can get enough, she’ll be set. Money won’t be an issue and she can help the one she loves.

Of course, there is also Rune, the wildling. He has a be king. Sounds pretty ambitious, right? Well, it is. Dangerous, too. He’s an interesting character with a lofty goal, and a tough road ahead of him if he’s going to acquire his dream. You’re going to see that he’s more than willing to do whatever it takes to get there. He sounds tough as nails, but the author makes a point of showing that Rune is vulnerable as well. It’s a nice touch honestly.

This book brings readers a storyline that keeps you wondering “What is going to happen next?” Questions are going to dog you as the story goes deeper. Packed with twists and turns, nothing ever truly goes the way that you think it will go. The author does a fantastic job keeping readers on their toes as to what is going to happen next. Just when you think that things are going to go their way...BAM! Plot twist!

It’s honestly one of our favorite things about this book. You’re going to want things to go their way and for them to catch a break, but the twists are the best part. Do things pan out for them here and there? Yes, but it’s never in the way that you expect! Which makes it awesome!

Are you a reader who hates cliffhangers though? Well...this book may drive you the tiniest bit crazy then. LOL! The final chapters are absolutely CRAZY! No, seriously. Expect buggy eyes, jaw on the floor, and a tight grip on your device as you devour the final pages. The author throws a lot at you that you will. Not. See. Coming! One thing is for’re going to be eager for book two.

Love a good fantasy novel with a touch of dystopian elements? Then this is the book to grab and devour.

5 out of 5 stars

This Wicked Bond Review Spotlight

Welcome to the tour for Amanda Aggie’s thrilling third book in the Realm of Monsters series, This Wicked Bond!

This Wicked Bond is a book that you're not going to miss. Amanda Aggie is back, and she's bringing steamy romance, page-turning drama, and that HEA ending that you're going to be looking for. Because if any character has ever deserved's Calamity.

This Wicked Bond begins with a nice little visit to the dungeons. Thinking we're going to find a rogue prisoner? A relative of the monarchy who has displeased the king and is down there rotting away while one of the royal children visits them?'d be wrong. We're going down there to meet Calamity.

Calamity has been a prisoner of these dungeons since she was a small child. Why? Well, because she has something that the king desperately craves. Only she can give it to him, but he's unable to attain it. So, he does the unthinkable. She suffers at his hand often, but she is still resilient and strong despite all that she has been through.

One thing that is also true about her is that she refuses to allow him to keep her down. She continues to plot and hope for the day that she'll be able to escape, but time is running out. An opportunity will come, but with it...comes a heavy price.

This Wicked Bond is an engaging novel that is going to grab you from the beginning and keep you page-turning to find out what happens next. Calamity is a strong female MC and you're going to love her. She's not submissive by any stretch. You'd think that she'd be a bit mild due to being kept in the dungeon, but she is feisty! We weren't sure that we'd like a lot of fire in her, but it suits her.

What we really appreciate is that she's a clever character. She takes chances at times when she really shouldn't, which will likely have you sighing in exasperation, but it works. LOL! It's understandable, because when you've gone through so much at the hands of "mad man" everything else is easier to deal with.

This Wicked Bond is a delicious addition to the Realm of Monsters series. It's a stand-alone novel, so you don't need to have read the previous books in this series. Of course, you can read them if you want to just enjoy them all, but they're not interconnected.

You get a HEA, and the bad guy getting his due. It's a gripping tale packed with drama, romance, fated mates (which we love), some steamy scenes, and a play on Robin Hood. What more could you ask for? Another book you say? Well, we're sure that there will be more and we'll be here for it all!

A captive princess.
A rogue dragon shifter.
A bond that could save or doom them all.

Unlike my sisters, I was never arranged to marry a monster. I was imprisoned from birth.

I have a unique gift and my father– the King of Solaria–fears it. Yet, he’s far too curious about how my magic works to let me go.

Everything changes the day I’m pulled from my cell. It’s never happened before. The only explanation is that I’ve outlived my usefulness. Except, it’s not a chopping block awaiting my head. It’s a handsome rogue in a green cloak.

The man’s a thief who owes the dungeon warden a life debt. To repay it, he’s been tasked with smuggling me out of the kingdom.

I know nothing about him. Not his name. Not even his species. Yet, his alter ego has made it clear that this isn’t just an assignment. I’m his, and though he’ll see me safely out of Solaria, he has no intention of letting me out of his sight.

The monster might want me, but I can assure you the man housing him does not. My father murdered his twin sister and devastated his kingdom.

All it would take is for him to go back on his word, and I might become the means of how he gets his revenge.

This Wicked Bond is an enemies-to-lovers tale featuring a morally gray, shifter hero with a slew of red flags. The world is dark, but it’s also full of adventure and magic. This story is a spellbinding fusion of Robin Hood, dragons, and monsters, and takes place within Amanda Aggie’s Seven Realms World.

Bound by Scars and Secrets Review Spotlight

To celebrate the release of the sequel Bound by Promises & Lies in February, we’re going back to the beginning with Bound by Scars and Secrets!

Bound by Scars and Secrets is Sienna Archer's first book in her Realms of Magic series, and it's a book that you're not going to want to miss!

Bound by Scars and Secrets lures readers in with a gorgeous cover that showcases as spear, and small sparks of magic surrounding the character. It is but a small prelude of what is to come hidden within these pages.

Bound by Scars and Secrets details the story of Alathea as she simply fights for survival. She is protected by the Sancta, whom she etches the "truths" into stone for. She and her sister were seemingly abandoned by their mothers. But why? Alathea has magic inside her, but magic is forbidden. It is taught that it is evil, to be feared, and hated. Only "Truths" are allowed to be spoken and anything else will see you hauled away in a wagon, never to be seen again.

Alathea has a sister, Soli, whom she wishes to protect from the world, but when her sister makes a choice that will impact them both, Alathea will do anything to protect her.

This book is a page-turner, that will keep you coming back for more. The dynamics between the sisters is interesting. Soli is more out-going and determined to take on the world, while Alathea is the exact opposite. It's understandable because Alathea has seen what magic can do. She fears it now, and even more so since she's been taught through the "Truths" to fear it and shun it.

Fate has other plans for her though. Not just her though...her and her sister. Her sister will be the catalyst that draws her in and tugs her into a realm where magic is everything and is needed if she is going to protect the place that she once called home.

Packed with twists and turns this story is going to lead you on quite the ride. Alathea will grow little by little, but you'll also get some hints of romance between not just one, but two characters. Where is this going to lead? Only way to find out is to dive into this story and see for yourself.

This is a YA novel, so things are kept pretty much nice and easy. No steamy scenes or anything like that. You get blushes, glances, and fighting against feelings, but that's all part of the fun really. Remember, this book is part of a series, so there will be an ending that leaves you wondering...what happens next? Good news though? Book 2? Coming soon! So you won't have to wait long!

4.5 out of 5 stars

Betrothal and Betrayal Review Spotlight

Betrothal and Betrayal by

Janet McGriffin

Ultimate Tour

Betrothal and Betrayal is the first book in Janet McGiffin's The Empress Irini series. Get ready to meet a cast of characters that will quickly pull you into this story, as young (or not so young according to her family) Thekla goes on the search for her betrothed as he stands her up for the third, yes third, time! Prepare for an adventure that will be packed with danger, and more than a little drama.

Betrothal and Betrayal begins with Thekla and her family waiting, once again, for her betrothed to show up. For the past two years he's been a "no-show." Why? Well, his dedication to his Emperor and country. Well, her father has had enough. His threat? Either her betrothed shows up today and she gets married...or she's going to the convent...option three. Trust us, not even you, the reader, want option three. Cue shudder and cringe. LOL!

Well, things go as expected. A spark of hope and comes crashing reality. No show. So, what does Thekla do? She runs. She seizes an opportunity and runs with it. Where will this new path lead her? Only time will tell, but it won't be an easy road ahead for her.

Betrothal and Betrayal is an interesting story as Thekla refuses to accept the path that her family has shifted towards. There are some sparks of humor. Thekla is determined to forge the path that she desires. She takes no guff from any of the other characters in this book. Male, or female, this girl will stand her ground. One of our favorite scenes was when a certain character tried to take liberties with her. Her blade made an impression and definitely will earn your respect. It was awesome! LOL!

Thekla's journey is not an easy one, but she has help along the way. She goes from being a sheltered girl to carving out a place for herself in a male-dominated world. This book is truly fascinating as you follow her journey and watch her deal with a variety of situations.

The author plants small details in this book that will pique your interest in what exactly will be Thekla's path moving forward. It builds a healthy amount of intrigue and does the job of keeping readers engaged in where things go from here.

Love a good historical novel that delves into the Byzantine era? Then this is the book for you.

The Quelling Review Spotlight

Welcome to the book tour, The Quelling!

This fantasy novel is absolutely going to grip you & keep you coming back for more! Read on for my review and more details about this book.

The Quelling by C.L. Lauder is the beginning of a dynamic dystopian fantasy series that will grip you from the beginning and keep you coming back for more.

The cover for The Quelling quickly captures your interest with its splashy cover of eye-catching colors and three figures. Who are the figures? How are they connected? The answers are between the pages if you're ready to dive in.

The Quelling is a real page-turner of a novel. The minute you start reading this book the author drops you into a tense situation. The main character, Kyjta, is in hiding. She's not alone though. There are many others with her, and being quiet and staying safe is the name of the game. They are being hunted by monsters that if given the opportunity will take them away. Why? One simple fact...the marks that they bear on their bodies. But wait for it...because chaos is about to ensue.

Settle in as you read this book, because it will captivate you with the dynamic characters you'll be introduced to. Before you know it...BAM! You're halfway through and wondering where the time went. It's okay. This book is one we want to read, devour, and then creepily stare at the author for the next book. LOL! Okay, so maybe the "creepy stare" is just us. LOL!

Kyjta is a complex character. You're absolutely going to have questions about her and her past. Wait for it. These little gems of information are scattered throughout the story. You'll come across them at random times, and they will definitely give you "A-ha!" moments. It's a nice touch really because the questions drive you forward, but the answers...the answers will leave you dumbstruck. The laws of these people are WILD!

The Quelling blends dystopian with fantasy and a nice touch of science fiction elements as well. You get strange and bizarre creatures and the science-fiction angle from the characters and their technology. When I say the characters I mean Kranik and his people. They are such interesting characters and beings. They are more "pleasing" to look upon, in comparison to the others who live there with Kyjta and her people. But they are still feared.

The Quelling is an engaging and truly fascinating story. There is a lot going on, and you can even expect some jaw-dropping moments and situations. The title of this story ties in rather quickly, which is something that we especially love. The dynamics between the characters is well done and feels believable if they were real. This book is one that you're not going to want to miss out on.

For readers who enjoy fantasy novels with galactic mix-ins, this book is one that you're going to want to grab. We can't wait for what comes next!

5 out of 5 stars

Thank you to the author, C.L. Lauder, and Literally PR for the opportunity to read and review this book. We look forward to what comes next!

                                                                        About the book:

Befriend your enemy, save your friend...

When Kyjta accidentally brands herself with an alien fluid while plotting revenge, she knows her fate is sealed. As one of the Stained, her skin glistens star-bright, and the creatures sent by the Rhemans to scavenge for bodies will have no trouble finding her. One night, while sheltering during a raid, Kyjta forms an unexpected pact with a Rheman rebel to protect a young girl, Calipsie, who’s fallen into her care. Days later, when Calipsie is taken, Kyjta abandons precaution to go after her. Facing impossible odds and allied by a Rheman she’s not sure she can trust, Kyjta must not only rescue Calipsie, but also face the Rheman overlord who’s taken a disturbing interest in her.

Perfect for fans of Divergent and The Hunger Games! The Quelling is a captivating, dystopian fantasy about loss and love, oppression and rebellion, and delves into the power of the individual against a dominant evil.

About the author:

Carla Lauder grew up in South Africa before immigrating to the United Kingdom, where she attended the University of London to complete an MA in Creative Writing. She now lives at the foot of a lush mountain in Hong Kong with her husband and two rapidly lengthening sons, who enjoy their newfound proximity to nature, especially the sea.

Want to know more about the author? Check out some of these interview questions she took the time to answer!

Interview Questions:

1. Tell a little about yourself. What do you do when you're not writing? What are your aspirations for the future?

One of my character quirks is that I’m happiest when achieving two objectives simultaneously. For example, I love listening to audiobooks when exercising, watching TV in the bathtub, and reading while writing. This last one might seem tricky, and I’ll grant you it’s not exactly simultaneous, but I find it’s a great way to mood-set a scene and conquer writer’s block. Some people listen to music; I read other people’s stories. There’s something about being in the flow of a narrative that keeps my writing moving.

2. Give us some backstory behind The Quelling. Where and when did you write it?

My best days are when I have enough time to run up my neighbourhood mountain and sit at a small table overlooking the sea to write. Most of the Quelling was written during COVID; I would be up the mountain before six am and back at my desk before nine.

3. What was your favourite part of writing The Quelling?

The Quelling wasn’t supposed to be part of the series initially. I wrote what are now Book Two and Book Three first, thinking they’d be Books One and Two. I was daunted to find that I needed to go back in time to understand the circumstances of my premise. The best part about writing The Quelling was having it all fall neatly into place. It’s like the story was already formed, just waiting to be told.

Crimson Promises Review Spotlight

Welcome to the tour for Jocelyn Bleu’s Crimson Promises. Read on for more details!

Crimson Promises is Jocelyn Bleu's debut novel, and the first in what promises to be a truly gripping series.

The first thing that you notice about Crimson Promises is the gorgeous vibrant colors that quickly catch your eye. You're going to simply want to take a minute to study and admire this cover before you delve into the blurb to learn more about this book. For readers who enjoy books about angels, demons, and secrets then this is a book that you're going to want to check out.

Crimson Promises begins with a prologue that is going to build the intrigue as to what is going on. What has truly transpired that brings us characters lingering in the rain? A promise extracted with another promise of a better tomorrow, a release from a bond? Tasked with a mission that will either mean Bennett's salvation...or his doom should he fail. 21 years...he has to just hold out for 21 years.

The story shifts forward to Aurora, the main character of this story, and Bennett's ward. Told from the first-person perspective, you get the sense immediately that Aurora is a loner. Not necessarily by choice, but it suits her. As you read the book you'll come to understand exactly why. So, quell your disappointment as you learn that Aurora isn't the most interesting character. Give her some time though, once the story really gains traction things will begin to get more interesting.

Crimson Promises alternates POV between Aurora and Bennett when he comes out of the shadows. When you read this book you'll see where he's told to stay out of sight, but the closer she gets to that "magic number" age-wise, it seems that the darkness is stepping up its game to claim her. So, what's a guy to do other than move ahead and step out of the shadows to better protect her? Too bad it's going to make things more complicated...for both of them.

Author Bleu's story has a slow, but steady pacing for the first half of this book. This is going to cue an exercise in patience. There is going to be a lot of back and forth between Aurora and Bennett. She wants to pursue things, but he knows the risk that he'll be taking. However, God forbid another guy shows interest in Aurora because then cue "caveman" behavior. LOL! Honestly, these moments bring some spark and a touch of spice to the story to liven things up. So, that's definitely a plus.

Wondering if there is some serious spice in this book? Unfortunately, there isn't. There is some heat and a touch of steamy scenes, but the "steamy" scenes aren't really that steamy. If we had to rate the scenes on a steamy meter it'd be about "3 out of 5"...maybe "2.5 out of 5." The lead-ups are where the steam really builds in a couple of scenes, but when it comes to the real action...those who like it spicy will find that lacking.

When this book hits the halfway point, the action really begins to kick in. This is fantastic because the book needs it to breathe life into it. The drama picks up, and the tension really begins to build. Brace yourself for some major secrets to come to the forefront as well. Wondering if your jaw is going to be on the floor? The simple answer? Yes. LOL! Seriously though, prepare for it, because it's coming.

From the way that this book draws to a close, it's safe to say that there will be more to come. There is no way that the story can just end there and be done. Nope. So, keep an eye out for another book to come, because this? This is just the beginning.
