Oblivion's River Review Spotlight

Welcome to the book tour for Oblivion's River by Shoshana Rain! If you enjoy spicy romance and Greek myths, you will love this!

Oblivion's River is the second book in Shoshana Rain's The New Olympus series. Note that while this book is the second in the series, these books each can be read as a stand-alone novel. It's just more fun to read them in a series as they come out. LOL!

Prepare to meet two new characters in this book - Hephaestus and Lethe. This story will alternate between the two characters as their romance unfolds and they push to get past the things that separate them.

The drama in this book is so good! I mean, it's another Greek mythology novel packed with romance!!! Readers who love Greek mythology are absolutely going to DEVOUR this book! You get the right amount of drama, and the author gives you all of it. You get suspense, danger, and romance that builds across the story. It's an enemies to lovers, and as you learn more about the characters you'll understand exactly why.

I like that this book is a medium-burn romance. It fits the tone and the characters so well. It smolders right beneath the surface in the most perfect moments bringing you to the edge of your seat wondering if this is going to be THAT moment.

The steamy scenes are good, but I'm always one for full blown heat and ALLLLLL the details. LOL! But this book is definitely a good one. I liked the ending, and I honestly look forward to more from this author.

I'm rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Thank you to the author, Shoshana Rain, and R&R Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this book! Be sure to check out my fellow bloggers posts in this tour! Thank you for stopping by!

Oblivion’s River (The New Olympus #2)

Publication Date: February 28th

Genre: Romantic Fantasy/ HEA/ Greek Mythology

Oblivion’s River is a full-length, medium-burn, standalone fantasy romance with a guaranteed HEA. It contains steamy scenes and is an opposites attract romance. It is book two in The New Olympus series. While it is a standalone, reading the first book will provide the best reading experience.

Hephaestus:

I wanted to forget Lethe, to stop seeing her every time I closed my eyes. The goddess hunted me, tormented me, took away everything I am. She should rot away in Tartarus like she deserves.

But we need her. She’s the only one who can tell us where the rift knife is—and our very survival depends on it. I’m the only one who can get answers from her, so I’ll punish her, bend her, use her.

Until she gives me everything.

Lethe:

There are so many things I can’t remember. Who I hurt. Who hurt me. The location of the knife, the one I can trade for my freedom. I don’t want to remember. I’m happy in the darkness and silence, forgotten.

They don’t believe me, and when they drag me out of my prison, I find myself faced with a god I shouldn’t remember. But I do.

He wants to play a game, but I don’t play games. That’s why I’ll win.

Strife’s Apple (The New Olympus #1)

Apollo:

As the God of Prophecy, it’s my duty to keep my fellow gods safe. And to do that, I need Eris. Which means retrieving the Goddess of Discord from the pits of Tartarus—where I left her, seven hundred years ago.

The now-freed goddess may think she can beat me, but I intend to tame her wildness before she destroys us all. I’ll do anything to save my family, including seducing her. And I’ll love every second of it. I’ll have the little goddess on her back, hands, knees, any and every way I can get her.

No matter what, I’ll bring her to heel.

Eris:
For seven hundred years, they kept me chained in darkness. For seven hundred years, I never saw sunlight, never knew joy, never spoke to another mortal—or god. Until Apollo came, and with the wave of one imperious hand, freed me.

I know he needs my help. The gods are fading, and only I can save them. Too bad I have no interest in anything beyond revenge.

Especially against him

Strife’s Apple is a full-length, medium-burn, standalone fantasy romance with a guaranteed HEA. It contains steamy scenes and is an opposites attract, enemies to lovers romance.

A Fae is Done Review Spotlight

Welcome back to the Veil friends, and congratulations to Danielle M. Orsino on the release of A Fae is Done! Read on for details!

Welcome back to the Birth of the Fae series! Book five is here and this cover is absolutely gorgeous! Brace yourself for more drama and this book follows the aftermath of the tragic death of Queen Aurora. If you need a little refresher the author has got you covered. Our observer makes sure to fill us in on the happenings and remind us of exactly what went down and who is behind it all. Now, where will things go from here?

A Fae is Done starts out with a prologue that gets you up to speed and then drops you into utter chaos. Queen Aurora is no more. Her death, still fresh. Now? Chaos reigns. The Bishops, having their own agenda, have accomplished one part of their plan. The Fae are upset by the division that now rages between them. King Jarvok is broken hearted behind what he believes is a betrayal by the woman he loved. Will things ever be the same again? Probably not, but that's the point. Yes?

This book pulls you in just like the previous ones in this series. But if you are expecting a resolution with this addition? LOL! Don't get too hopeful. But if you're hoping for more to come - then you will be thrilled to know that this author fully intends to continue this series.

This story shifts between the characters and introduces some new ones. You will see that Sekhmet has little intention of being the type of queen that Aurora was. It's unfortunate, but understandable. Where would the fun be in that, right? LOL! It'd be probably be pretty bland, and we wouldn't be as engaged in the intrigue, right?

The drama is really played up in this book as secrets come to light. If you remember from the previous book that Aurora took certain steps concerning Jarvok. But he's not the only problem, there are just some things that you can't forsee and his companions are one of those problems. They mean well, but they bring their own form of chaos and confusion to the party. Of course, it just makes this book even more of a page-turner as secrets come to light and things get complicated.

When you get to the end of this book, true to form this author is going to leave you eager for the next book. What is going to happen next? How are the fae who loved and revered Aurora going to make it through the chaos and danger that swirls all around them? Will they be able to, or will more be lost to their final oblivion? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I applaud the author for being able to keep this series fresh and engaging. 5 out of 5 stars hands down.

Thank you to the author, Danielle M. Orsino, and R&R Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this book. I look forward to what comes next!

A Fae is Done (Birth of the Fae #5)

Publication Date: March 30th, 2023

Genre: Epic Fantasy/ Fae

Prophecies, broken hearts, secrets, and scars. Bodies delivered on the wings of butterflies.

After Queen Aurora’s execution, the Court of Light falls into political unrest. The riots continue as new Queen Sekhmet takes her place on the throne and puts her long-planned agenda into action. Meanwhile, King Jarvok attempts to remedy his heartache but ends up divulging suspicions he has held close for centuries instead.

Alliances shift as dark mysteries bubble to the surface, but a prophecy reading brings a ray of hope. Unfortunately for others, it foretells certain doom. The Oracles speak of a future child who will unite the Fae courts and bring karmic retribution. Unlikely heroes will be forced together by fate, while unexpected enemies are revealed.

There are Fae in both courts who have plenty to hide. Some would kill to keep their secrets. Some are willing to die for them.

About the Author

Danielle M. Orsino is a fantasy novelist whose lifelong vision to create whimsical realms that her readers can escape to. Her compelling word-weaving pays homage to a multitude of personal muses, from Chris Claremont and George Pérez (both famous comic book writers), to Anne Rice and Wonder Woman.

The creative spark of storytelling has been with Danielle ever since she was a child, but martial arts and her nursing career took center stage into adulthood. Then, on a day like any other, it was reignited during the most unexpected of moments: while treating one of her patients. Seeing that they longed for a distraction during their arduous treatments, the floodgates of inspiration soon burst forth. So, Danielle took it upon herself to tell them a story; a fantastical narrative that would leave the confines of that IV room’s walls and land upon a page. Before she knew it, what started as an imaginative tale to pass the time, turned into book, followed by an entire series: The Birth of Fae. This awe-inspiring series includes Locked out of Heaven (Book One), Thine Eyes of Mercy (Book Two), and From The Ashes (Book Three), all of which are published by 4 Horsemen Publications, Inc. And with an unwavering passion for cosplay and comics, it was a unanimous decision to place her on the cover of each book in all her Fae cosplay glory. The Birth of Fae also features Los, an affable chameleon dragon inspired by her fun-loving Yorkie named Carlos.

When writing wasn’t at the forefront of her mind, Danielle was a successful Martial Artist. Some of her achievements include “1999 World Martial Arts Hall of Fame Inductee”, “Female Martial Artist of the Year”, “WKA World Champion Silver Medalist 2008”, and numerous more. She has also garnered hundreds of martial art tournament wins, various other national and world titles, and features on big-name channels like TLC and CBS. She even had the rare opportunity to perform for former U.S. President Bill Clinton and collaborate alongside Vincent Lyn and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. From there, she pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science, and she is now a Licensed Practical Nurse who focuses on Lyme disease research.

This “New Queen of the Fae’s” unmatched world-building and masterful Fae-origin retellings have led to an ever-growing queendom of “Fae-natics”. To begin embarking upon a quest in an epic world unlike any other, visit Danielle M. Orsino’s official website at http://www.BirthOfTheFae.com.

The Silent Son Review Spotlight

Welcome to the ARC tour for Alexa L. Menard's upcoming novel, The Silent Son. This is the much anticipated second book in The Last Daughter duology and you are going to want to add it to you TBR!

Read on for details and visit one of our Bookstagram hosts for a chance to win a paperback copy!

Remember where The Last Daughter ended in the epilogue and how it pulled you to the edge of your seat with anticipation of what would be coming next? How you were giving Erik some serious side-eye? Thinking - ummm dude? YOU gave her up. YOU pushed her away and NOW you want to be tossing it all aside to go chasing after her? Seriously?? WTF?! LOL! Well, believe me when I say this - this author...she chose violence. LOL! It's great though. You'll see. Brace yourself though.

The Silent Son starts off with a content warning and a BANG! Not literally a bang, but for sure it starts off with some serious shock value. It's absolutely fantastic though. The only regret you're going to have is not having the scene play out on page. Too much? Nah. Would it make the start of this novel a touch more horrifying? Yes! But it would be WORTH it! LOL! Let's just say that Erik is regretting his rash decision to make a deal with that witch.

What's that? You haven't read The Last Daughter yet?! What are you waiting for?! You've got time to go and grab that book before this one comes out! Believe me - you're going to devour that book and be checking your watch, phone, calendar to see if book two has dropped yet. You got a bit of time to wait, but the wait will be worth it!

Aisla has found happiness with the man that she initially vowed to despise. She left behind someone she thought she would always love, but that same person is now coming with the intent to destroy everything she has come to cherish. Does he really have a choice in his actions? Yes and no, to be fair. But Aisla is going to have an insane battle ahead of her in more ways than one. Prepare to have your heart ripped out of your chest with anger and some sadness as she endures so much.

Alexis L. Menard has really written follow-up novel that will keep you page-turning to the very end. Book two is by far more engaging than book one, but you have to look at the book as setting the stage and once it's set - boy howdy! Get ready for a deluge of drama, romance, violence, and so much more. This is a duology that you will be rereading again and again, because it WILL stick with you long after you've finished reading them.

Menard weaves together Norse mythology with fantasy in such a unique way that it gives you a fresh experience on the genre. This novel is packed with twists, turns, unexpected situations, and an ending that will have you in a puddle. A puddled mix of happiness, relief, and thinking "OMG I can breathe again!" LOL!

This book earns it's 5 out of 5 stars. I can't wait to see what this author writes next.

Thank you to the author, Alexis L. Menard, and R&R Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this book! Stay tuned for a cover reveal of this novel that will be coming soon! Don't miss it!

The Last Daughter

Publication Date: August 24th, 2022

Genre: Adult Fantasy/ Norse Mythology

She’s cursed with a dead witch’s power over fate, he’s a heartless demigod born for revenge and redemption. Once her enemy, now a conflict of interest. The fate of the Nine Realms dangles on a dangerously thin thread.

Fate was cruel enough by dealing Ailsa with a fatal illness. But when her father and sisters are killed at war, she becomes the Last Daughter in a long line of shieldmages. This power comes with a price, however, coincidentally getting her kidnapped by an elfin she’s only heard of through legends.

Vali’s realm is dying, inflicted by the black magic, sedir, and the only way to heal his land is by delivering the Tether to Odin, king of the gods. When he finds this power bound inside a mortal woman, he is forced to bring her and her shapeshifting wolven back to his home in Alfheim.

But their journey across the Tree of Life is perilous, and betrayal is imminent. Vali and Ailsa must depend on each other for survival, a mutual dependency that turns into a passionate love affair. With Odin waiting on this promised power, a kindred spirit found in her enemy, and a dark threat neither Ailsa nor Vali intended to find in the bright lands of Alfheim, what started as a simple quest has turned into a fight to save all gods, mortals, and fae alike. Vikings meet magic in this fresh retelling of Norse Mythology.

Smoke Review Spotlight

It's finally launch week and we are so excited for Sarah Jaeger and the release of her debut novel, Smoke! Read on for more info!

Smoke is a paranormal romance novel by Sarah Jaeger and if you love paranormal romance novels with shifters, drama, and tons of tension then you're not going to want to miss out on this novel! It's the first in a series, so prepare yourself for more to come! Try to contain your drooling. You got this. LOL!

This book starts out with a prologue that will absolutely intrigue you and keep you coming back for more when you have to put this book down. The prologue sets the stage by taking you into the past eleven years, but then once you get into the meat of the story it hits present day and hits the ground running.

This book gives you alternating POV throughout the story. What makes it really nice is that every other chapter shifts to the opposite character. So you start out with Cade and then shift to Thalia. It keeps you engaged because as you leave one chapter, you're left wondering - "okay. What is going to happen next?" The author entices you to keep going to figure out - how exactly are they going to deal with the situations that they find themselves in?

Since this is a paranormal romance novel, the romance gradually develops and builds between them. But, what's romance without some tension, drama, and of course, anger? LOL! Gotta have those ingredients to really build up the steam and have you hanging on their every word and action. It's really well done. You'd hardly believe that this is this author's FIRST novel!

As stated in the blurb below, this book will give you an HEA, don't despair though! The storyline will continue with new characters, some familiar faces from this book and I know that if it's as good as this book, that I'll be back to devour that one as well.

I enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this author in the future.

I'm rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Thank you to the author, Sarah Jaeger, and R&R Book Tours, for the opportunity to read and review this book!

Smoke (The Ardelean Bloodlines)

Publication Date: March 23rd, 2023

Genre: Shifter Romance/ Paranormal Romance

Thalia

Apparently ignoring my parents’ politics wasn’t the right move. Shifters were outed to the public, and months later, I’m still unsure what the big deal is about.

Now my life is in danger and the only one who can protect me is the true king of the wolves.

Cade is nothing like what my mom and the press show shifters to be. He’s thoughtful, reserved… and have you seen his butt in those jeans?

Cade

Having abdicated the throne, I’ve vowed to stay out of shifter politics.

Now, my sole responsibility, for the next six weeks, is to make sure no idiots can completely derail the deal I’ve cut with the one woman holding all the cards.

The problem is… the threats against Thalia Clark are nothing compared to the danger of my wolf, now that he’s claimed this human as his.

I’ll kill to protect my mate, but is keeping up my end of the deal enough to save her?

Smoke is the first book in the Ardelean Bloodline series. While this story does contain an HEA for Cade and Thalia, there is an ongoing plot connecting each book in the series. Each book will need to be read in order. There are open door, explicit scenes as well as colorful language not intended for young readers.

Excerpt

What is she thinking about? Is it what we talked about with Ansel or something more? I step closer, testing her guarded nature. “Country life is dull. I don’t exactly work here, which means I’m pretty much stuck to whatever chores Ansel’s left around the house, and you’re left to whatever sanity-keeping activities you can find. I guess if you’re feeling adventurous . . .” I shrug. “Have you ever been to Arches?”

No, I’ve heard it’s beautiful, but this is my first time in Utah.”

Thalia’s eyes light up, and I know the answer.

Would you like to go today?” I ask slowly.

Thalia starts nodding. I smile, seeing her excitement. “Ansel’s right, it’s been too long since I’ve given The Leviathan a little bit of time to run. Plus, I think it would be beneficial for you to meet a wolf, in a positive environment, with someone who’s in control before someone else can further taint the experience. I know Sherman was a little upsetting for you. I can ask Ansel or Ezra, but their wolves are pretty scary looking if you’re not used to looking at wolves.” I pause and give her a smirk licking my bottom lip before sighing. “They’re also not really fucking fluffy.”

Did you just ask me to take your wolf on a walk?” she returns with a sly smile, raising an eyebrow.

Her comment catches me off guard, and my face heats. There are so many different ways I could answer. But she started it. Thalia was comfortable enough with me to crack a joke. I shrug and release my bottom lip from between my teeth.

Tell our mate. The Leviathan encourages with the image of a ceremonial collar wrapping around Thalia’s neck. I feel him brush and know my eyes just went gold.

My version is dirtier. “Not quite. I’m not following any of the leash laws. And if anyone will be doing any collaring, it’ll be me clasping one around your neck. If there’s going to be any tying, it’ll be you to the bed, while I show you all the ways I can make you scream my name.”

A chill rips through Thalia’s body, and she shudders, her whole body standing taller. I step into her personal space. Thalia wobbles, looking up at me. I watch her wet her bottom lip with her tongue. Drawing a deep breath, I catch the scent of her arousal.

The Leviathan paces. Give mate wolf, we run together.

Easy, Draga Mea.” I kiss her forehead. When I step back, I see her trying to figure out the cute nickname The Leviathan’s given her. Only having the briefest memory of Romanian spoken in the home growing up, even I had to look it up. My Darling. I could tell her, but I’m not sure she’s ready.

A backpack, snacks, water, and a trip to the restroom later, I walk Thalia out of the house and to the garage. The classic pickup truck Ansel loves so much is right where it always is. Thalia seems impressed when the old Ford roars to life. I just smile. Ansel’s love for this truck runs deep, and I’d be surprised if it didn’t turn over.

We’re somewhere farther onto Ansel’s property and close to the border with the national park. It’s a gamble that we may come across someone. It’s not common for tourists to make it out this far, but we’ll have to be in the national park to see some cool rock formations. It’s selfish and maybe a bit cocky to risk bringing her into public like this, but I want her to have a positive experience. I know The Leviathan is set on wanting to give her a wolf, but not so badly that he would sabotage all the progress we’re making in having her accept wolves and what this life looks like.

We find Ansel’s secret entrance to Arches National Park. It’s denoted by an old wooden trunk tucked off the side of the gravel trail behind some scrub brush.

Putting the old Ford in park, I turn in my seat to look at her. “Two rules.”

Thalia’s eyes go wide, and there’s the smallest hint of fear.

Okay . . .” She draws out the last syllable.

Don’t run. The Leviathan will chase. I’m worried he’ll push you down and you’ll get hurt. Humans are breakable compared to wolves, and even a friendly little shove could hurt you,” I caution.

Thalia nods. “The second one?”

Breathe.” I lock eyes with her. “Enjoy this and know I’m here.”

About the Author

Apparently, to be an author one must have a bio. Well, I'm human despite the fact that I wish to be a shifter. I have an issue with the way some words are shaped. And that means sometimes, they must be spelled incorrectly to be right. This is something I'm passionate about. So, we'll get along fine! Oh, yeah: Midwest USA, married, all fur babies.
