The Silver Ones is the first book in Charlotte Mallory's paranormal romance duology. In this book you're going to meet a variety of characters that will engage you and keep you coming back for more. Times have changed drastically for the people in this familiar yet unfamiliar world, but they are finding that change isn't quite done with them either.

Young women across the continent are waking up with surprising changes - silver hair and blue eyes. What does it mean? They don't know, but what people are finding out is that they are being targeted by the shifters who come and take them. The shifters believe that they harbor magic in their veins, so they will be perfect mates for them. So, the shifters will do what they must to acquire a "Silver" for their own.

Rem is one of those females whose hair and eyes have turned. Her family decides to put a plan into action, but it's already too late. Rem is "allowed" one last day of peace before she finds herself abducted by the shifters, but she's not taken alone. No, they take someone to force her to be more compliant with their agenda. What their agenda is? They refuse to tell her, despite cursing her for not be able to reveal their secrets - though she has no idea what they are. She simply knows her task - seduce the Alpha and in compensation her brother will be allowed to go home unscathed.

The Silver Ones is a page-turner of a novel. From the very beginning, the author sets the stage for Rem's life. She's already dealing with a loss of a loved one, and now she has to deal with this. She briefly had a glimmer of hope for the future, only to have it ripped from her unexpectedly. But that's typically how things work, right? You have plans, hopes, and dreams of a different life, but then something comes in and upends it all.

The deeper you read the more engaged you'll find yourself by the characters. Rem has a tough road ahead of her, but if she plays her cards right she just might come out the other side. Each chapter details not just Rem's story, but the Alpha's as well. He knows something is up, but he can't quite put his finger on it. But danger never stays in the dark, eventually it makes itself known.

As this is a duology, the author simply must leave you wondering what happens next. The ending is definitely unexpected, but I'm absolutely eager for the next book in this set. I can't wait to find out what happens and how it all ends. For lovers of paranormal romance novels, this book is a must-read!

The wind continued to blow, Ronan's scent filling Rem’s lungs. She wanted to get closer to him, to breathe him in. The Alpha cautiously glanced up at the moon and then back at her. A darker expression overcame him. She truly smelled him for the first time and she failed to hide that she was enamored by it.

And he knew it.

The moon caught his eyes at just the right angle, and they flashed white like it would for a wolf, reminding her of the beast within. The overwhelming knowledge of being alone with him, in the woods, under the moon, with these changes coursing through her, melted away any barriers that remained between them.

He took a small step forward, his eyes laced with a cunning curiosity. The more she stared at this male that loomed over her, the more she became entrenched in everything about him.

She could feel his power. She could feel that he was an Alpha. She couldn't explain the novel sensation, but it was a knowledge that she knew, like an instinct.

Ronan’s stolid face gently broke, a hint of a smile forming. He was enjoying watching her gain a new sense of her surroundings.

Rem was turning into one of his own.
