Author James Dashner, is back with a new spin-off series!! Read the Maze Runner series and hungry for more? Then you'll not want to miss out on this new series!

While the old characters we remember are gone, there are lots of new characters to become engaged by. You're going to devour this book. Seventy-three years have passed, but not much in the world has improved. There is still the threat of viruses that destroy people, but is there hope? The answer? Some believe there is.

Survivors who escaped after the Death Cure left and lived on an island. Now, their descendants must face the aftermath that was left behind. But everything is about to change when a strange ship comes sailing out of the blue. What they find aboard...well, it's nothing they could have ever expected. But the "safe haven" that was home will soon be no more. Now, a new journey begins. New dangers lie in wait and unfortunately for these island dwellers...going home won't be an option.

The Maze Cutter will grab you from the beginning and keep you page-turning throughout this entire novel. You're going to meet a myriad of characters all in different areas of this new world. You're going to meet kids on the island, you're going to meet characters back on the mainland and so much more. Don't get too comfortable with one particular character, because the story follows different ones and jumps around.

This method of writing is a great means of keeping readers on their toes. You just never know which character you are going to be connected with, but the story is absolutely engaging. You feel just as on edge when strange things begin to happen. Whispers in the shadows, strange noises that immediately put everyone on guard. Who can you trust? You just really don't know.

The author creates such an engaging world with these new characters. The author makes sure to tie in elements from the past that will have you eagerly page-turning for more. Familiar elements, and familiar scenes from the original series bring a breath of familiarity to the storyline. Also, to drive home as a reminder of the horrors that the old characters themselves experienced. This book is so good.

I couldn't put it down. I will admit that I devoured the Maze Runner series when it was three books. So I was more than a little shocked that there are books I haven't read yet.  I saw that this book continues forward, but that the Crank Palace is a bridge between the two series. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to fully get into this book, but that's not the case. So, if you're like me and have missed the other books don't worry. You can enjoy this book. Reading the others will more than likely add to your enjoyment but it's not necessary to have read them all. I will be going back to read them though.

This is truly an engaging start to a new series and I honestly can't wait to find out what happens next for these characters. This is just the beginning.

I'm rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. Well-written, engaging, and a must-read for those who enjoyed the Maze Runner series especially.

Thank you to the author, James Dashner, and R&R Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Seventy-three years after the events of THE DEATH CURE, when Thomas and other immunes were sent to an island to survive the Flare-triggered apocalypse, their descendants have thrived. Sadina, Isaac, and Jackie all learned about the unkind history of the Gladers from The Book of Newt and tall tales from Old Man Frypan, but when a rusty old boat shows up one day with a woman bearing dark news of the mainland–everything changes. The group and their islander friends are forced to embark back to civilization where they find Cranks have evolved into a more violent, intelligent version of themselves. The islanders are hunted by the Godhead, the Remnant Nation, and scientists with secret agendas. When they cross paths with an orphan named Minho from the Remnant Nation, the dangers become real and they don’t know who they can trust. The islanders will have to survive long enough to figure out why they are being targeted, who is friend or foe, and what the Godhead has planned for the future of humanity.
