Defilement, with it's deliciously dark and twisted cover is a collection of horrific short stories that are absolutely perfect for reading in the dark and for reading on the spookiest night of the year - Halloween. Readers and lovers of the dark and twisted are sure to enjoy this novel as the author explores storylines that will be sure to give some...nightmares.

Defilement by Jesse Nolan Bailey is packed with short stories and the various warnings of the "fears" that they might instill in some readers. So, reader beware, you're in for a shock. LOL!

Each story that you find in this book is going to be uniquely dark and twisted. I would have liked it a bit more, but we can't freak everyone all the way out all the time now can we? LOL!

The first story is sure to creep out those who enjoy digging. You know, digging for buried treasure, mysterious finds deep in the ground, or just...bones. There are some really twisted supernatural elements to this story. You get the calm before the storm, (both figuratively and literally) before the danger really ramps up. I'd have liked a bit more build-up, but the story definitely kept me engaged.

The author targets various things in his stories and really brings them to life in dark and twisted ways. Some will leave you wondering what happened next. I know I was thinking it! The evilness of some of the characters as well had me devouring the book, but also raised several questions at the same time. Don't worry though, with some of them, the author answers the questions.

These stories are sure to give you chills, thrills, and second-guessing doing some of the seemingly "innocent" actions that some of the characters in these stories take.

I'm an avid devourer of most things horror, and while I enjoyed these stories, I felt that they could have given more. For those reasons, I'm rating this twisted collection of stories 4 out of 5 stars.

Enthralled by the magic that written stories contain, Jesse Nolan Bailey has always wanted to be an author. With his debut novel, THE JEALOUSY OF JALICE, and his shorter fiction, AMETHYST, released to the masses, he can now claim such title with relief.
