Tristram the Demon Review Spotlight

We have another fantastic story from The Legends of Everclearing series by Wendy L. Anderson. Read on for more details about Tristram the Demon and enter the giveaway for a chance to win 1 of 5 signed copies!

Welcome to another Legends of Everclearing novel! Yes, this book is part of a series, but it can be read as a standalone novel with a HEA. Prepare yourself to meet new characters that will engage you to the very end.

Tristram is a demon, he goes by the name of Tragic because of what he is. A fallen. He is injured, dying, and simply trying to stay alive. But are his final moments here? Vinaya comes across him in the woods, and despite his attempts to frighten her she stays and helps him. Will she regret her decision? Will he choose to shun her like the people she grew up with? Or will they each touch and melt the other's heart and walls and become something more?

Tristram the Demon is a welcome and well-done addition to the series. The author starts the story off with a forest scene that plays out beautifully. From the very beginning, you gain insight into the type of person Vinaya is. She's kind, caring, beautiful - inside and out, and compassionate. She's suffered emotionally regarding those who should have cared for her. Simply because she is different in her appearance. But you quickly see that she won't allow someone to suffer in pain if she can help them.

The story follows Tristram aka Tragic, and Vinaya as they grow together as he slowly heals. Things are peaceful for a time, but as we all know - peace never lasts forever. There must be something to come and destroy that peace and boy when it comes it comes in a big way! Now, I know what you're thinking - big as in...something dramatic? No. But it is something that intends to disrupt and forever change Vinaya's world. Good thing she has Tristram with her, because her "family"...well, they're trash. Period. You'll see why.

The drama continues to build after a certain point, but it builds in multiple directions. The drama is well done, but the pace of the story is what will really keep you engaged. I love the dynamics between the characters, and how well they work together.

This is an enjoyable novel and one that is a great addition to the series. I know that you are going to love the twists and turns that the author weaves into this story with a nice development of a sweet romance between the characters.

I am choosing to rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Thank you to the author, Wendy L. Anderson, and R&R Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this book. I look forward to what comes next!

Thank YOU for stopping by my blog, and reading my review! I hope you come by again soon! Because there will be more to come in the coming days! Tristram the Demon

Publication Date: March 31st, 2023

Genre: Romantic Fantasy

A demon searching for redemption. A lonely girl searching for love. Will love and forgiveness be enough to escape the clutches of hell and open the gates of heaven?

After years of serving the Underworld, Tristram the demon recants his choice for hell and leaves his demonic life behind. As a consequence, he is relentlessly hunted and mortally wounded by his former brothers who are intent on taking him back to the land of the dead.

Vinaya, shunned by humankind as a witch, finds Tristram dying in the forest. She heals his wounds and helps him discover there are dual sides to his nature.

While Vinaya struggles to understand Tristram’s true spirit, he grapples with the guilt and shame of his past life. As love binds them together, they journey to a mystical land called Everclearing which serves as the gateway to heaven. In a desperate appeal to the Ny-Failen of Everclearing, Tristram must prove that he has truly repented of his past sins. But is he worthy of redemption?

Unknown magic and new love are their only hope as Tristram and Vinaya struggle to stay together and save his soul. Will hell let him go and will heaven take him back?

As one of the Legends of Everclearing, Tristram the Demon is a standalone fantasy. If you like a sweet love story, heart-stopping action, adventure, and a happily-ever-after ending, you’ll love Tristram the Demon. This is a swoon-worthy tale of sacrifice where love conquers all when redemption is a hope worth fighting for.

Compunction Spotlight

Congratulations to author Ehmbee Way on the release of Compunction! Read on for more details!

                                                                        Compunction

Publication Date: March 28th, 2023

Genre: Psychological Thriller/ Suspense/ Terror

In a relatively short amount of time, James Singer has lost his wife, his job, his home and his subsequent place in the world. Now, with appearance of a shadowy phantasm who has taken to terrorizing him every night, he’s beginning to fear that he, like his schizophrenic aunt, is also on the verge of losing his ability to discern what is real and what is not.

As James’s condition continues to grow worse, he begins to mysteriously and uncontrollably phase in and out of several different worlds-all of which seem to be inhabited by quirky, non-conventional and often down-right absurd characters. James doesn’t know if he’s dreaming, overmedicated, in the throes of a nervous breakdown or if he’s already dead but one thing he does know is that, one way or another, it all ends on Monday.

Compunction combines the suspense of M Night Shyamalan, the psychological melancholy of Edgar Allen Poe and the absurdist vibe present in Netflix’s Midnight Gospel. The result is a suspenseful, character-driven, upmarket fiction that’s all about redemption and second chances. Or, as USA Today bestselling author Pamela Crane says, “Compunction reaches new literary heights as it bends the genres of psychological thriller with fantastical misadventures. You’ll relish its delectable prose and timeless theme of self-discovery, wrapped in an urgent plot that will hook you.”

CW: Mental illness, adult themes

The Divine and The Cursed Review Spotlight

Perfect for fans of Beauty & the Beast, Romeo & Juliet, A Curse So Dark & Lonely, A Court of Mist and Fury, and The Cruel Prince.

Welcome to the tour for the bestselling novel The Divine and the Cursed by J.E. Reed! Read on for more!

Lovers of fantasy novels! Lovers of novels with Fae! Lovers of novels with magic, thrills, romance, danger, and twists...GRAB THIS BOOK!!!! Do it now!!! Go grab it and come right back! I'll wait. I promise.

Okay. Are you back?! Did you get your copy?! Are you excited to start reading this book?! Please say yes! Say yes to all of the above! Because this book is going to have you SCREAMING!!! SCREAMING I TELL YOU!!! Your jaw is going to be on the floor, you're going to be kicking with delight, and you are going to be swooning!!!

Now, I know what you're thinking, especially if you've read quite a few of my reviews, "you say this about almost every book you review." Eh, true. To an extent! LOL! But I am NOT overselling this book. The first page gripped me and had me hunching over (yes, bad posture, bad for my back - zip it!) to find out what happens next. I DEVOURED this book! It caught me off guard and I was literally like...what happens next?! Eager to learn more?? Keep reading! LOL!

Prepare to meet Arianna. She's a royal Fae, and she is far from home. Worse? She's a slave. Could things get any worse? Yes! She's in hiding. Is there more?? YES!!! Things are literally piled on this girl, AND she's in dangerous territory and she knows it. The author throws everything except for the kitchen sink at her. It's crazy! But you won't find me complaining and I know you won't be either! You're going to be drooling over this book as the author takes you deeper into Arianna's story.

Wondering if this story focuses solely on her? NOPE! Feel free to squeal excitedly. LOL! This story gives you multiple POVs. You get Arianna, Talon, and Rion. I loved it! I especially loved Rion's chapters. You're going to love getting to know "the Demon" so much because he is such a complex character. The author, piece by piece, reveals why he is the way that he is. This is not a path that he got on by choice. That's all I say so that hopefully I'm not revealing any spoilers. LOL!

One of my favorite aspects is the slowly blooming romance between the characters. It's tentative, sweet, and a bit shy. It will have you swooning (yes, cue romantic sighs in the correct places). I was literally like - (le sigh) How romantic!!! LOL! I loved it and I know you will, too. Slow-burn romances are the best because they are also so sweet. You get a nice amount of development before things get hot and heavy. Bring on the heat!!

Another favorite aspect of this book for me is when the author ties the title of the story in. I literally screamed "OHHH MY GOOOOOOSSSHHH!!!!" Believe me, when author's tie the title into the story itself and make the dots connect and it all makes sense - I am officially a fan, and will be devouring everything you write from there. LOL! It's great!

This book is so good and the back and forth between the characters will hold you in it's grip to the very end. You won't be putting this book down until the last page has been turned. After that? You'll be clawing for more. Good news? Book two is coming! How soon? Ummm...not sure. But I'm sure it will be soon! Just go follow the author on Amazon and I'm sure you'll get a notification. LOL! But I know you're going to feel. I NEEEEEDDD MOOOOREEE!!!! What happens next?!

If you need me? I'm going to be over there...in a corner...holding my NuNu, hoping for the next book sooner rather than later. LOL! This book is one of those that really stick with you long after it's done. So good, and yet so devastating at the same time. LOL! A surprise contender for my collection of top 10 favorites of the year.

For me, this book earns it's 5 out of 5 stars. I devoured this book and loved every second of it. Arianna is such an interesting character, but Rion matches her just as much. They are perfect for each other. Prepare for complicated, sticky, and tons of drama, but you will love this book.

Thank you to the author, J.E. Reed, and R&R Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this book. I really hope we cross paths again soon for book two!

Thank YOU for stopping by my blog to read my latest review! Feel free to subscribe to be notified of my next review when it comes out as there is always something going on here! Of Darkness and Fire Review Spotlight

We're thrilled to share Of Darkness and Fire with you all today! This beauty is the first in a now completed and available trilogy!

Of Darkness and Fire are the first book in Amber Palmer's epic trilogy and this book will grab you from the beginning and keep you page-turning. Yes, there will be moments where the story will let you loose for a minute, but it won't be long before it grabs you again. So brace yourself! This book has some epically good moments that will have you screaming for more!

Of Darkness and Fire is the first book that I have read by Amber Palmer, but I have already added the other book(s) in this series to my wishlist. I have to know what happens next and so I am eagerly anticipating getting my claws on those books. LOL!

Of Darkness and Fire starts off with an intensity-driven scene playing out. It is a scene from the past, but it is one that has stuck with the main character since the moment she witnessed it. The death of her mother. It's understandable that this moment haunts her. It is tragic, dramatic, and heartbreaking. It's something that she holds herself responsible for. Can she ever move past it? Only time will tell.

Some heat threatens to spill onto the pages early on, but the author feels that it's a little too soon so we miss out on THAT particular moment. LOL! Don't despair though. More to come later in the story and it is delicious!

Now, as you know this is a fantasy novel. These characters are fae. You don't initially know that, so when you find out that Eva has been alive for 300 years, that's when the shock hits you. LOL! It's good though. There are a couple of confusing elements, but as the story progresses everything gets ironed out so that it all makes sense.

As this story unfolds you're going to find Eva is a complex character. She has some juvenile attributes - eye-rolling, mentally demeaning towards her younger sister, and some anger issues. But she's not a bad character. It's disappointing concerning her attitude toward her sister especially since it stems from a moment of intense jealousy. The back and forth in her head concerning her relationship with Damien is another bone of contention. She knows what she wants, and she knows what he wants. Yet, she comes off as wishy-washy. One minute she puts up boundaries, and then she lets those boundaries crumble because - honestly, he's good in bed. Come on girl!

Now, let's be real. Damien is part of the problem as well, but he's not the main character of this story. He does play a big part though! You'll feel empathy for him - to an extent, but don't go crazy. LOL! Leave that to Luka. Luka...you're an ass. Sorry, not sorry. LOL! When you read and get to know a bit more about Luka, you'll understand...probably to an extent, but don't let Eva take all the blame for Damien's behavior.

This book gets interesting FAST! Especially during the ball. Things go left, right, center, and off in another direction that will pull you to the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next! A new character is being introduced and he fully intends to shake things up. I was here for ALL of it!! Just watch out for that one creepy guy...ugh! LOL!

There is a lot of back and forth and drama throughout this book. Eva has quite the problems on her hands. She's the heir, but is she willing to put her heart aside for what duty? Or will she be able to have everything that she wants in the end? I'm absolutely looking forward to the next book in this series. You just know that it's going to be something epic.

I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. There is a lot to love in this book, there really is. I didn't like how Eva views/describes her sister simply because she's the opposite. I wasn't a fan of the wishy-washy manner Eva deals with Damien and how quickly she flips, but it all works in the end.

Thank you to the author, Amber Palmer, and R&R Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this book. I look forward to what comes next!

Don't forget to check out my fellow bloggers/bookstagrammers as they share their thoughts and reviews on this book! Thank you for stopping by and be sure to come back soon as more content is coming!

                                                                Of Darkness and Fire #1

Publication Date: February 28th, 2022

Genre: Fantasy/ Romantic Fantasy

Over 100 years ago, Aethion was thrown in the middle of what would forever be known as The Great War. Kingdoms were torn apart, countless innocent lives lost because of the greed and lust for power of one man – Lachlan Roarke. His band of misfits called themselves The Horde. Which was fitting, seeing as they tended to overrun and eradicate everything in their path.

He’s the reason I lost my mother. The reason I can’t sleep at night without constant nightmares plaguing my mind. Every time I close my eyes, all I can see is her. Everything I am today is because of her and the night I was forced to stand by and watch as she was murdered.

Now, as the time draws near when I must fulfill my destiny as queen of Helia, we find ourselves on the brink of war once again. The Horde is back, although with someone unknown at their helm as leader.

The time for revenge is now, and I know it’ll be the sweetest thing I’ve ever tasted. It’s my duty to save my kingdom. Not only do I owe it to my people, whom I love and swore to protect, but also to make good on the promise I made myself the night I saw the light fade from my mother’s eyes.

I will destroy all those who seek to destroy me. I only hope it won’t be the last thing I do.

Author Note: This book contains explicit content and darker elements, including mature language, violence, and sexual content. It is not not intended for anyone under 18 years of age.

Excerpt

You won’t make it. You’re going to be too late.

The voices in my head continued to torment and taunt me as I raced through the gilded halls of the palace. My home. I slipped around the corner of a corridor, chancing a glance briefly at the sentries standing guard by an archway. They reached out for me, tried to stop me, but their shouts fell on deaf ears; I didn’t have time to stop and explain. I was racing against an invisible clock, counting down the seconds until my life was altered—changed so irrevocably, I didn’t know how I would move on.

Their footsteps echoed off of the stone walls behind me. My heart was racing, aching as I pushed myself further, harder than I ever had before. Decades of training should have prepared me for this type of situation, but I was royally fucked. No amount of killing or training could prepare me for this. The cost of my failure would be far too great if I didn’t make it in time. Dark corridors seemed to stretch on indefinitely, drifting into a never-ending time loop.

The screams of my people rang off the palace walls. Pure, unbridled chaos from the world outside these walls continued to reign around me. Helia was under attack. There wasn’t a damn thing I could do to stop it from happening. They were here, The Horde, and they delighted in the torturing of my people. I was a simple fool to believe we could’ve stopped this from happening. My heart seemed to fracture. One particular scream sounded out above the rest into the chilly night air, the only one that mattered in this moment.

No. No. No.

My head was pounding, aching as my magic coiled underneath the surface of my skin. It begged to be set free, physically hurting me to keep it restrained. But I required every single last drop to do what I needed to do.

The door to the throne room came into view as I rounded the last corner, the golden archway contorting into tight vines above the entry. I kicked open the doors, my breathing erratic as I took in the scene in front of me. My mother was lying in the middle of the room. Her body was broken and battered, but her face remained masked in steely defiance. She was beautiful, even as she laid before me. A masked assailant was the only force holding her body up, one hand solidly gripping her hair. My eyes frantically searched my mother’s, instantly realizing my worst fears were coming to fruition. She had accepted her fate. I was too late. She lifted her neck, meeting my gaze, and I nearly gasped. Her eyes were blazing, two beacons calling to me on the darkest of nights. They held within them a promise Fato guide and haunt me until the end of my days.

I love you, sweet girl. Never stop fighting,” she whispered to me, right as a blade plunged into her chest and pierced her heart.

Avalon: A Story Driven Post-Apocalypse zombie series Review Spotlight

Love a good horror story? Looking for a comic that will give you exactly that in small bites, and leave you gnashing your teeth for more? Well, check out 1282 Comics's - Avalon: A Story Driven Post-Apocalypse zombie series

It's the holiday season, and things should be good right? Life is going on as usual, but things are about to take a chaotic and dangerous turn. Don't let yourself be caught unawares. Danger is lurking, and it's about to break out in a big way.

This comic book is packed with detailed images. You get characters that are easy to relate to. They engage you and keep you page-turning with thrilling situations. A cop out on his beat doing a wellness check. What will he find? A family out to dinner, will they get through it without interruption? Chaos is brewing and this short comic will leave you on a cliffhanger. You're going to be eager to find out what happens next.

The second edition of this comic series continues with the characters that you were introduced to in the first. This second edition, Avalon: Blindside goes by just as quickly! It's a tasty bite that keeps you engaged in the story. You're curious - what is going to happen to everyone? The expectation arises that someone is going to die soon. Do they though? Guess you'll have to read to find out. LOL!

The storyline is fast paced and intriguing. You get pulled to the edge of your seat. You're pulled in by the thrills, close calls, and situations of where you just KNOW that things are about get ugly. You always hope against hope that for certain ones things will work out, but that's rarely the case. It's okay though! It keeps you coming back for more.

For readers who love a good zombie apocalypse series then one is definitely worth checking out. The comics are short, but they do a great job pulling you in. You're kept engaged and when it ends you are kept wondering what happens next.

I personally would have liked a little more substance with these comics, a bit more depth/pages since it goes by so fast. All in all, of the two that I've read it is worth checking out.
4.5 out of 5 stars.

Interested in checking out this comic series? Visit - AvalonComic and dive in!

Thank you to the creators, 1282, for the opportunity to read and review these comics!
