Scale is the continuation of L.R. Friedman's The Blaze Legacy series, and where book one took the time to set the stage, book two takes off with a blaze!

Scale picks up where book one left off. Book one ended with some surprising elements that probably left you with your jaw on the floor. Kyleigh learns that with the return of magic, that there is more to her than meets the eye. Of course, she's not the only one. Her friend Aislin got the same surprise and King Redmond...well, he got one too. Now he feels some regret for the anger and resentment that he has clung to for over 10 years. As well he should!

Of course, remember the Commander and Ox? Yeah, they didn't escape unscathed for the parts they played in book one. It's rather unfortunate for both, but as well all know - fairness just isn't a fair thing. These characters are prime examples. Now, Kyleigh gets to navigate the labyrinth of secrets. Keeping secret not only WHAT she is, but who she is related to. It's really going to grate on her because she'd love more than anything to have those "mother-daughter fights" she's heard so much about. Too bad that's not in the cards right now. (Sorry not sorry but I don't feel a speck of remorse for her on that point. LOL)

This book is DRAMA filled! Kyleigh is wanting to get down and dirty with Dru, but things seem to keep getting in the way. Of course, that doesn't stop Dru from walking around aptly prepared. Is it wrong that I felt that since he came through with her from "Otherworld" he could at least have gotten some protection for HIMSELF instead of just creating some for her? Just my thoughts on that particular element of the story. Of course, Aislin has her own romance issues. Cue eager eyes for more! LOL! It's interesting to watch the dynamics between herself and Sloan. The sparks are there...let them ignite girlfriend! LOL!

If you read my review of Descend then you'll be able to tell that I really enjoyed this book more. LOL! Like I said, Descend sets the foundation for the series, and book two takes you deeper. You get a few more details concerning The Blaze, but it's still in a more or less piece meal situation. But you'll also see that what once divided the two kingdoms will need to be what brings them together. Secrets are coming out, and a bigger danger than they could imagine is stretching its bonds to see if it can break free.

I can't wait for book three in this series, because things are going to get crazy!
