WELCOME TO THE BOOK TOUR FOR: CURSE OF THE FALLEN!!!
Curse of the Fallen is the first book in H.C. Newell's Fallen Light Series, and let me tell you something - if you are NOT reading this book/series...you are missing out!!! Get ready to be swept away into a fantasy world that will keep pulling you to the edge of your seat and coming back for more. Good luck putting this book down! If you are successful in putting it down, the characters will haunt you until you pick it back up. Trust me. I'd know. LOL! Life may be demanding, but so are this epic storyline and these engaging characters!
This is the first book that I have read by H.C. Newell, but it will not be the last! The minute I started reading this book I knew I was officially a fan. Meet Neer, she's on a quest to free herself from those who have chained her to them. Her magic? Cursed. If she uses it, the Order who hunts her will find her and drag her back kicking and screaming. Think it will end there? More than likely not. Guaranteed anyone found with her will suffer a terrible fate. These people are EVIL!
I know what you're thinking. Can Neer refrain from using her magic? In certain situations? No. Sometimes it's more important to take that risk and use it than to not take the risk and wind up dead or lose someone she cares about.
Looking for drama, adventure, danger, magic, and so much more? Then this book is for YOU!!! Neer and her friends go from one wild situation to the next. When the author mentions the "Blood Trials" you are literally going to bounce to the edge of your seat with wide eyes thinking "Tell me more!!!" You're going to absolutely crave more information about these trials. What will they entail? How dangerous are they going to be? What risks will she have to take? And the big question - will she have to go alone? Cue biting fingernails in anticipation of an answer that will not be good. LOL!
Curse of the Fallen is engaging from beginning to end. The author knows exactly where to plant little tidbits of informative information that draw you even further into the story. Also sprinkled throughout this story are informative footnotes that give you insight into what certain things mean as it contributes to the storyline.
You're going to love those especially because of how informative they are. They will really pique your interest even further into the storyline. There are a couple of footnotes in this book that I, personally, would love to read a novella or even a spin-off novel (if it were feasibly possible) about the nyx elves. I say this because there is one particular footnote about them that really had me hungering for more about that particular part of the nyx elves' history.
Be forewarned - this book will give you ALLLLLLLLLLLLL the feels. You are going to feel empathy for enemies (don't be too shocked), you are going to feel heartbreak for the loss of innocents, and yes, even the loss of someone close to the main character. You are going to feel rage, betrayal, and so much more. You know those are the best kinds of books when they draw emotions out of you as read. Well, this one checks all the boxes. I love it and you will, too.
Hate cliffhanger novels? Well, TOUGH BUTTERCUP! LOL! Seriously, this book has a cliffhanger that had my hair standing on end before I was howling to get my hands on the next book. Then I calmed down because I remembered something...I bought it last week. LOL! So it won't be long before I'm diving into the next book. Believe me, you'll be howling "Give me more!!" when you finish book one. So, just prepare yourself. LOL!
Now, my only gripe is this - the ebook doesn't have the little quotes at the beginning of each chapter like the physical book does. I was disappointed when I compared and realized this. I love the quotes in the physical book. It adds a little spice of something extra to the story. So, I feel like readers of the ebook are missing out on that. It's not something huge, so basically I'm just nitpicking at this point. LOL! Okay, okay. I'll stop. LOL!
Note: You'll notice that I struck through, but have not removed my remarks about the epigraphs. I did this so that I can attach this note. If you downloaded the book before recent weeks you may want to delete and then redownload the book and the epigraphs will show up. So, with that being said...this book is perfect. LOL!
Fantasy lovers, please, do NOT miss out on this book. It is so good. The only times I put it down was when I absolutely had to. When I wasn't reading this book it haunted me. I kept thinking "What is going to happen next?" I highly recommend this book, and that you grab it ASAP!
I am rating this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars. Well deserved and absolutely earned for a fantastic tapestry of fantasy story writing. I can't wait to read more from this author.

Author Bio &
Information:
H.C. Newell is an
American author of epic fantasy. She is best known for the Fallen
Light fictional universe, in which her fantasy novel Curse of the
Fallen, is set.
Newell began her
writing journey at a young age. In elementary school, she would often
write small plays for her and her cousins to perform. In middle and
high school her love of writing transformed into fiction literature,
which she would write in spiral-bound notebooks. By 2015, she had
written more than 5 romance and young adult novels
and several short stories.
In 2014, Newell
started her first novel series, Forthwind, which was a young adult
trilogy. As she grew as an author, she found her niche in adult
fantasy, and created the Fallen Light universe. This six-part novel
series took Newell over seven years to create. She published her
debut novel "Curse of the Fallen" in April 2021.
Newell's works
have been compared by readers to authors such as J. R. R. Tolkien,
Andrejz Sapkowski, and Robert Jordan among others. Newell lives in
Nashville, TN with her husband.
