The Dagger and the Forbidden Heir is the first book in Emilia Jae's The Forbidden Heir Trilogy, and fantasy book lovers....do not hesitate on this book. Go grab it NOW! The first introductory chapter of this book is going to absolutely have your jaw on the floor, your eyes bugging, and chills running up your spine. Chills of excitement, don't worry. There is nothing creepy or scary in this book. But this book is scary good! LOL!

The Dagger and the Forbidden Heir begins before the birth of the main character of this story, Elianna. Her father made a choice that cost him dearly in the end. He fell in love with another and chose her over the woman he was betrothed to. Oh, don't get too aghast! He married the woman he was supposed to, but the heart wants what the heart wants. What he does is turn a blind eye to an evil brewing close to home, and it doesn't take long before things go south.

Prepare for heartbreak and shock. The woman the king has married? She's about to show him exactly who she is with both barrels. It's interesting how one of his own, Lukas, his own personal guard can see the darkness that lies within the queen. It begs the question - has King Jameson been so indulged in the woman he loved that he failed to see the danger lurking at hand? Well, that question will take some time to be answered.

Of course, after the first chapter, the author fast-forwards a little over a century and we dive right into Lia's story. It's chaotic with the queen having declared war on humans, and the fighting is harsh and bloody. It's fascinating to read the characters and how they are each handling the situations that they find themselves in.

One particular aspect that is going to be a huge favorite for readers is when Lia and Jace cross paths. The drama that unfolds between them is going to be absolute gold. LOL! I loved the back and forth, the push and pull between them. They each are on one side of the fight, but as they spend more time together things begin to change. I love it!

This book is an absolute page-turner and readers who love a good romantic fantasy novel are you going to want to grab this book and dive in. It's going to sweep you away and keep you coming back for more. I know that I can't wait to find out what happens next.
