Foxfire Review Spotlight

We're celebrating the release of Foxfire this week, a suspenseful horror by Rowan Hill!

Foxfire is a suspense-packed horror novel that will lure you in with the lull of calm, but the horror is waiting just beneath the surface to strike. Reader beware...you're in for a thrill!

Foxfire from the beginning sets the stage with a cover that works to convey to readers what they can expect to come from this story. The darkness shrouds everything with an aurora lighting up the night. Ice and snow, and a single solitary person out in the middle of it all. Gives you an eerie feeling doesn't it? Ooooooooooooooooo (ghostly moan LOL)

Foxfire is told from the third-person perspectives of a variety of characters in this book. This helps take it to another level because you get more from the story. Each character brings something different and unique and eventually their own levels of fear and terror. It's not just the threat that lies in the woods that you get to experience with them, it's their own lives as well. Their secrets, each their own harsh realities each are trying to hide behind a facade.

Author Rowan Hill does a good job setting the stage giving readers chapters first about the characters and giving us some idea of their backgrounds, and even some of the secrets that they carried with them. Then...let the suspense, fear, and terror (for the characters) begin.

This book is going to pull you to the edge of your seat and have you wondering what is going to happen next. Is there something in the woods? Or is it a human hand at work? Is it something living? Or has a spectre from the other side come to wreak revenge on the people it believes are disrespecting the land? Want to find out the truth of it all? Well, you're just going to have to read to find out.

When it comes to page-turners this book is up there with some of the good ones. Some of the characters are more engaging than others, but the book overall is a good choice if you're looking for a thrilling novel mixed with some horror for Halloween.

4.5 out of 5 stars.

Thank you to the author, Rowan Hill, and R&R Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this book. I look forward to what comes next.

Foxfire

Publication Date: October 10, 2023

Genre: Horror/ Suspense/ Paranormal

In a remote Finnish resort, a group of potential investors gather to enjoy the Arctic beauty and the mesmeric Northern lights. But many of the guests aren't who they appear to be, and everyone is hiding something--from the gaudy Americans to the adventurous German and Australian couple to the quiet Yakuza and his former Geisha wife.

Owner Mattais and his skeptical daughter, Aino, have ignored family legends, dismissing the warnings of honoring their ancient forest as silly, old-fashioned traditions. But when the guests start to be picked off one by one, their blood soaked in the snow, the old tales don't seem so far-fetched anymore. A spectre haunts the forest, and the survivors must decipher who--or what--is taking revenge.

"...FOXFIRE combines all the best elements of a tense, well-paced thriller with compelling folklore and horror, all in the stark, deadly and glittering setting of the frozen north.... "
- Laurel Hightower, author of CROSSROADS and BELOW
