The Desert Heiress Review Spotlight

We have your next "must read" here! The Desert Heiress, the start of a hot and magical new series! Available on August 16th!

The Desert Heiress is a thrilling fantasy novel that depicts a cast of characters in a deadly dance for power. Where will the dance end? Power is a deadly thing and in one's attempt to take control it will create a chaos that they never could have seen coming.

Lis is the arbitress in waiting. Her grandfather holds the position of power for the time being, but it's a tenous hold at best. Their history is steeped in betrayal, and them being the scapegoat for others that they were in business with. Now, they let these same former partners think that they are held in check, but the balance is about to be upset. When her grandfather passes away Lis is thrust into the power that she was never formally trained for. Now, she must make decisions that will impact all who look to her and will either keep the balance or will upset it all together.

The Desert Heiress is the first book in The Seven Star Empire series, and this is a book that will quickly grab your attention. Lis is an interesting character. She's a woman in a "man's world." The men look at her and think that she's just "a woman" and that she should know her place. Get married, obtain a couple spouses, have some children and sit down somewhere. Well, she has no intention of doing any of that. She is her grandfather's heir and she will hold that role come hell or high-water.

The question arises though - when she goes to seek counsel - what will she do when she is warned that a storm is coming? She keeps thinking when one situation breaks that this is the storm, but it just the rumblings of thunder. Because something bigger is coming.

You get a unique cast of characters in this book. Lis, Adrian, Filip, and Deo. Each holds power in one form or another. Adrian, Filip and Deo have been handling things their way in their respective paths, but with Lis's new acquiring of power she threatens to upset that delicate balance. But there's more. The Council has taken it into mind to crack down on the smuggling of Sun Rose, the lifeblood of the community. This crackdown threatens everything, but it's a power play that is bigger than anyone could think.

This book is packed with drama, backroom dealing, and some steamy scenes that will really heat things up even more! This book is already hot (LOL the location where the characters live is HOT), so those steamy scenes are going to see you need a cool down yourself. The drama is just as intense. Lis is really looking to prove herself capable of handling things. In the process, she makes more than a few mistakes. Her biggest mistake comes in the form of not heeding someone's advice. They are simply looking out for her...but hey, ya know...pride. Yep.

Things go off the rails, but one thing is for sure! You're not putting this book down! The drive to know what happens next is going to keep you page-turning to the end. From the way things are setting up, book two is going to be something really interesting. I can't wait for the continuation of this series!

4.5 out of 5 stars

Nothing will stop Lis from regaining her family's power—not even the three tempting men standing in her way.

In the desert port of Cenefra, the Sun Rose is life blood. A magic plant with the ability to grant people greater abilities. Sale of the plant is strictly forbidden, its growth restricted only to farms owned by the Empire's shipping company.

Liseya Moroeste has only ever wanted one thing: to run the syndicate smuggling it. But her family has been cut off for over a century, forced to advise but never lead. When the government cracks down on all illegal export, Lis is ready to seize her chance.

To do so, she must best her three rivals. Filip, Deo and Adrian each want to court her, control her, cajole her into doing what they want.

Liseya finds herself drawn into their complicated web, but to survive, she must learn if she can trust them, or if she must cut them down before they can do the same to her.

The Desert Heiress is the first book in The Seven Star Empire Series. It is a slow burn, MMMF why choose second world fantasy with steamy scenes and a guaranteed HEA at the end of the series. It contains both MM and FF scenes and involves the FMC in a relationship before getting involved with her main love interests.
