A Song of Shadow and Starlight is the first book in author Morgan Gauthier's Shadow and Starlight series. This new age adult fantasy romance starts out easily enough, but prepare yourself for a ride, because this book is going to take you on one!

Isla is the heir to the throne of her country, Midoria, but she can't claim it. You know why? Because she's a daughter and not a son. But she's due to be married in a few days to the man she's loved all her life. Since they were children they were betrothed to each other. Isla can't wait to marry him, but the night before the big day...everything gets derailed.

Assassins are inside the palace and it's only happen chance that she sees them enter the palace. Her first thought is that they are after her parents, but their target? Someone else entirely. But with Isla stumbling across them, well, that changes everything. Now their plan has been thwarted, and her? Well, she just got herself kidnapped. Welcome to A Song of Shadow and Starlight. I hope you enjoy your stay! LOL!

Isla is a touch of the pampered princess minus the bratty spoiled behavior. Thank God! I don't know if I could have handled that aspect of her personality. LOL! Of course, from the beginning, when I heard that she was marrying the "love of her life" I was like..."okay, something is going to go wrong." Things just can't be THAT perfect right? Yeah, I'm thinking of Frozen...again. You know...Anna and her being in "love" with a dude she barely knew. I just kept thinking...he's gotta have some sort of agenda, right? Right?!

Stay tuned. It gets more intriguing the deeper you go into this story. I love that Isla is a fighter. She's never actually fought anyone, but she doesn't take things lying down. She's a character who will intrigue you, but so will her kidnappers. Each character has their own story to tell, and I love that we get a piece of each one here and there.

Page by page the author teases you with new information while also keeping some secrets for later. The romance gradually begins to develop piece by piece. You're going to love it. Another thing you're going to love is how Atlas (one of her kidnappers) pushes her to look deeper. To examine herself and the truth/reality. He pushes her, but he never pushes her too hard - except for when they're training. LOL!

Never get comfortable thinking that you know how it's going to play out. The author is 100% going to keep you guessing, and that is what makes this book such a page-turner. I know that you're going to be excited for the next book when it comes. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long!

About the Author

Storytelling is in Morgan Gauthier’s blood. She can’t seem to turn her brain off at night and some of her best ideas have come to her in the shower.

Born to two book-loving parents, Morgan was raised on a healthy diet of The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Nancy Drew, and any fantasy book she could get her hands on. She started writing her own stories at eleven years old and hasn’t looked back.

She is the author of the Mark of the Hunter Trilogy (Wolves of Adalore, The Red Maiden, and The Raven and the Wolf) as well as Aloha, Seattle and The Maine Attraction (both Contemporary Romantic Comedies).

Morgan Gauthier lives in East Tennessee with her husband and best friend, Brad, and their three children, Remi, Archer, and Roux (who are 5 years old and younger!). If five people wreaking havoc in the same house wasn’t enough, Morgan also has three dogs, Potter, Skye, and Bubba.

If Morgan isn’t writing or reading, she can be found binge watching Netflix shows, attempting to cook like Gordon Ramsay (not even close to his level), and practicing archery.
