Hunter is an Altered Human, the subject of a catastrophically failed experiment, who was subsequently rescued and raised by the Alleviators. Trash is a long-eared, horned alien who is passionately protective of his partner. When they take this strange woman to the Alleviator’s compound, everything goes sideways. Hunter is seeing things very differently now with the eyes of a trained operative. What had seemed normal in his peculiar childhood comes under harsher scrutiny this time around.
The stranger, Elaan, makes radical changes to the secrecy long held by the Alleviators announcing they are Iguacans, a sovereign people in exile. Suddenly shut out from the people he considered family, Hunter has to make some hard decisions about the course of his future. A tragic attack makes Trash’s choice easier. Allying themselves with this gifted new race will change their lives drastically. Leaving their careers and well-established undercover personas will be difficult, but family ties can be hard to break.
Armed with a motley group of advisors, no security and limited funds, Elaan must uncover the history, skills and culture of her people, regardless of how dark the secrets.
