Song of Dark Tides is THE book for readers who love a retelling of a familiar fairy tale. This retelling of the Little Mermaid is an absolute MUST. READ!!!! If you enjoyed The Little Mermaid at any point of your life and wondered..."what if" about the "evil" sea witch...then this is the book to grab, dive into, and be swept away by!

What if - Triton wasn't the "adoring" father, but an evil king who took advantage of a young witch, and in his rage did something truly heinous. What if, he cursed her because he wants her to come crawling to him, and poisoned the sea below against her with his lies? What if all the sea witch really wanted was to be free to live her life and once again be happy?

Song of Dark Tides is going to pull you into the depths the minute you start this novel, so brace yourself! The book starts off with Triton. He's watching Viola as she goes about her business. He craves her darkly and will do anything to have her. He doesn't care the costs. But there is something else there. Something with him...it's waiting, but you get the sense that it won't wait for much longer...even if he is determined to cheat it as best he can.

The picture that the author paints with this first chapter is sure to pique your interest in what is going to happen next. The story shifts to Viola as she is on the hunt herself. Before you jump on the "judging" bandwagon let the scenes in this chapter play out. Let her unfold the truth of what it is that she does and is doing. Trust me...she's a champion.

This book alternates POV between Aric, the prince, and Viola. There are some steamy moments of back and forth between them, too. Whew! Grab a fan, hunny! You gonna need it! It will be a while before things get REALLY heated, but you're going to enjoy getting to that point of the story nonetheless.

Viola truly shines in this book. She's not perfect, but I don't care. I don't want her to be. I also love how her friends try to help her and guide her. They see what she's doing and they have their own thoughts, but the reality is that they can see it better than she can.

Part of me wanted this book to shift into a series, but honestly, this book is absolutely perfect as a standalone novel. The author gives you everything and more wrapped up in this book creating the perfect package. It's gripping, delicious, dark, and absolutely exquisite.

One thing is for sure, this author writes one hell of a book. I recommend keeping an eye on this author into the future because her books deliver. Every. Single. Time.
