Leah Cupps is back with her latest Harley James adventure! Prepare to be swept away to ancient Egypt first before being rocketed forward to the present day with Harley and her dad.

Harley's dad's latest archeological project has taken him to Egypt, home of the great pyramids, and the breathtaking history steeped lands. Harley is excited to explore the lands, and a gift from her dad, but she's about to get a lot more. A mystery "falls" into her lap and she's determined to do her best for S.MA.L.L. Too bad this case will bring her face to face with an old foe.

Harley James and the Emerald Tablets of Egypt is the fifth book in the Harley James series. This book, like the previous others, can be read as a stand-alone novel. Of course, it's more fun to read them all in order to really immerse yourself in Harley's adventures and watch her grow as a character.

In this book, Harley is up to her usual habits. Exploring the sights, meeting new people, and finding herself in a bit of danger. Unfortunately, Harley disappoints in this book. Not by a lot, but enough that you can't help but question what she's thinking. She's excited for this new mystery, I get it, but she makes herself an easy mark at the same time. I have to say though I applaud her for her quick thinking in certain situations - yes, one including dear old dad. LOL!

I would have liked Harley being called to task for what goes down in this book, but I can't say more than that without dropping spoilers, so I'll just leave that there. LOL!

All in all, this book is packed with drama, familiar tropes, and of course, fantastic illustrations that add more detail to the overall storyline. For readers who enjoy the previous books, don't miss out on this one.

I'm choosing to rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.

About the Author

Leah Cupps is an author, designer and entrepreneur. She came up with the idea for Harley James with her oldest daughter Savannah. Savannah had taken an interest in Mayan history and so the two of them worked together to come up with the idea for the first Harley James book; the Mystery of the Mayan Kings.

Leah lives in Indiana with her husband and three children. She is also the co-founder of Vision Forty Press, a small family owned publishing company.
